Step into the neon-drenched world of Cop 01, a cooperative platform and shooter released by Nichibutsu in 1985. As futuristic law enforcement officers, players navigate scrolling environments while battling enemies to rescue a captured girlfriend. Utilizing an eight-way joystick and two buttons for action, you’ll jump across platforms, shoot adversaries, and progress through increasingly challenging levels. The gameplay blends elements of both genres; players must carefully time jumps and utilize cover alongside targeted shooting to overcome obstacles and defeat foes. Up to two players can team up, coordinating their efforts to clear the stages. The game features a soundtrack composed by Kenji Yoshida, providing an energetic backdrop to the action. Originally released in Japan, Cop 01 was developed using a PC-8801 platform and showcases dual Zilog Z80 processors for both gameplay and sound generation alongside General Instrument AY8910 sound chips.
