Cookie & Bibi 3
SemiCom • 1997

Cookie & Bibi 3 is a two-player puzzle game released in 1997 by SemiCom. Players use an eight-way joystick to aim and shoot colored bubbles from the bottom of the screen towards a field of stationary bubbles at the top. The goal is to match three or more bubbles of the same color, causing them to pop and clear the playfield. As with other games in the series, strategic aiming and quick reflexes are essential for success as players attempt to eliminate all the bubbles before they reach the bottom edge. The game features a vibrant palette of 256 colors displayed on a horizontal screen resolution of 256 x 224 pixels. It builds upon the gameplay established in the previous two entries, Cookie & Bibi and Cookie & Bibi 2, providing a familiar experience for returning players while introducing new bubble patterns and challenges. Two players can compete simultaneously, adding a cooperative or competitive element to the puzzle-solving action. Behind the scenes, Cookie & Bibi 3 runs on a Motorola 68000 processor alongside a Zilog Z80 chip, with sound provided by Yamaha YM2151 and OKI6295 chips. The game's development team included programmers Kim Hyun Ho and Strider X, graphic designer Kim Sung Hawan, and composer Jeon Seok Gee.
