Command War – Super Special Battle & War Game is a futuristic versus fighting game created by Taito in 1992 and designed for up to four players. Running on Taito’s F3 hardware, this prototype offered a wargame experience utilizing an eight-way joystick and four buttons for control. Players face off against each other in arena-style battles, maneuvering their characters around the stage and executing attacks to defeat opponents. This title was ultimately cancelled before its public release, though some of its game data would later be repurposed for another Taito project. A hidden stage select screen can be accessed by manipulating the service button and start sequence during the boot process, allowing players to bypass normal progression. Despite never seeing a wide distribution, Command War represents an intriguing glimpse into Taito’s development process during the early 1990s.
