Gameplay

Combat, released by Exidy in 1985, puts players in the role of a soldier tasked with advancing through enemy territory and earning promotions. Utilizing a light gun control system mounted to the arcade cabinet, you defend allied forces while attempting to breach enemy lines and achieve higher ranks – progressing from Private all the way to General of the Army. Success earns campaign medals as you fight your way forward. The game features a military-themed shooting experience presented on a horizontal screen with a resolution of 320x240 pixels. Driven by Motorola processors, Combat offers a range of colors and utilizes custom sound chips for its audio. It was initially released as a dedicated arcade unit but also available as a conversion kit to update existing Exidy games like Crossbow and Cheyenne. Later rebranded as "Catch-22," this single-player shooter provides straightforward action focused on skill with the light gun and strategic advancement through increasingly challenging levels.
