Nebula (DECO Cassette) (UK)
Data East Corporation • 1981

Nebula is a two-player vertical scrolling shooter released in 1981 by Data East Corporation and published on DECO Cassette hardware in the UK. Players pilot spacecraft tasked with eliminating waves of alien ships appearing across the screen. The game features distinct enemy types, including Rava, Canda, Munda, Naga, and Garda, each assigned a different point value for destruction. Early encounters involve Rava, Canda, and Munda, which initially maintain formation but later become more aggressive in their attacks. As gameplay progresses, Naga and Garda join the fray, increasing the challenge. A unique mechanic allows players to earn bonus points by repeatedly targeting Canda and Munda after an initial hit, leading to a spectacular secondary explosion upon complete destruction. Running on the DECO Cassette System, Nebula represents one of six games released for this hardware platform beginning in late 1980 in Japan.
