Cloak & Dagger (rev 5)
Atari • 1983
Also known as: Agent X

Descend into Dr. Boom’s subterranean lair in Cloak & Dagger, a fast-paced shooter from Atari released in 1983. As Agent X, you navigate a series of increasingly perilous floors via elevator, tasked with retrieving stolen plans and thwarting the villain's nefarious schemes. Each level presents a unique challenge: conveyor belts laden with explosives (some armed, some disarmed), robot guards, acid pits, and even death-ray firing eyes obstruct your path. Careful maneuvering is key to survival, as Agent X must quickly traverse each floor while dodging hazards and collecting green unarmed explosives for bonus points. Secret maps can be found on earlier levels which will aid in navigating minefields later on. Lighting the fuse of a giant bomb offers a risk-reward opportunity – escape before it detonates for substantial points but beware; failure results in an explosive setback! The game culminates in a confrontation, potentially with Dr. Boom himself, as you race to return to the surface and claim victory. Cloak & Dagger is a single-player experience demanding precision and quick reflexes to survive the depths of Dr. Boom’s laboratory.
