Chaos Heat (V2.09O 1998/10/02 17:00)
Taito • 1998

Chaos Heat plunges two players into a chilling investigation within an abandoned biotech laboratory located on a remote island. As members of a specialized response team—choosing from Mitsuki, Rick, or VOGT—players battle grotesque bio-monsters like zombies and mutated insects using modern weaponry including flamethrowers, machine guns, and grenades. The game presents a third-person perspective with scrolling environments as players navigate the unsettling laboratory complex, attempting to discover the source of an anomalous thermal reaction. Gameplay combines platforming elements with intense shooting action. Players must strategically utilize various sub-weapons—such as tracking missiles, area-of-effect launchers, and slowing gases—to overcome hordes of enemies and environmental hazards. Success requires careful resource management and coordination between players as they progress through the increasingly dangerous facility. Released in October 1998 and running on Taito's G-Net hardware, Chaos Heat marked a significant debut for that platform. A limited edition soundtrack album accompanied the game’s release later that year, showcasing the work of composer Nakayama Joutouhei from Zuntata. Completing the game at 100% unlocks a special ending.
