Cosmo Gang the Puzzle (US)
Namco • 1992

Blocks containing whimsical characters descend from the top of the screen in Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, challenging players to strategically arrange them into complete horizontal rows. Successfully clearing a row removes it from play, creating space for further maneuvers. However, these blocks also feature members of the Cosmo Gang who impede progress; a ball must be skillfully directed to eliminate these characters and keep the game flowing. Up to four players can collaborate or compete in this cooperative puzzle experience, utilizing eight-way joysticks to guide both the falling blocks and the crucial clearing ball. Released by Namco in 1992 on their NA-1 hardware, the gameplay mechanics would later influence a subsequent Namco title. Cosmo Gang the Puzzle offers a unique twist on traditional block-clearing games, blending strategic planning with quick reflexes to manage the increasingly complex patterns.
