Burger Time (DECO Cassette) (US)

Navigate precarious platforms in this 1983 platformer from Data East Corporation, where players control Peter Pepper and his quest to build a burger patty layer by layer. As Peter, you must climb ladders, jump across gaps, and carefully place patties, lettuce, tomatoes, and buns to create complete burgers while avoiding persistent enemies patrolling the construction site. A two-player mode allows for cooperative or competitive burger-building mayhem. This version of Burger Time originated as "Hamburger" in Japan, but was revised for international release on Data East’s DECO Cassette System hardware. Changes include enemy entrances now appearing from all corners of the screen and a modified visual display for remaining lives. The chef character's behavior has also been adjusted; he no longer freezes when using his pepper spray, and players receive warnings when that supply runs low. Burger Time is the first entry in a series featuring Peter Pepper’s culinary adventures, followed by titles such as Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory and Super Burger Time. Later adaptations of the game have appeared on various platforms over the years.
