Burning Fight (NGM-018 ~ NGH-018)
SNK • 1991

Two New York City police detectives, Duke and Billy, pursue a dangerous Japanese crime syndicate in Burning Fight, a 1991 fighting game from SNK. The investigation takes them across the Pacific to Japan where they team up with local officer and martial arts expert Ryu to confront the organization's leadership. Players choose one of these three characters and engage in close-quarters combat against opponents, utilizing attacks performed with a joystick and four buttons for actions like jumping strikes and hard kicks. Burning Fight features a 2.5D perspective, allowing for some depth and visual variety during battles. The game was originally released as part of SNK’s Neo-Geo MVS arcade system, and later ported to various home consoles over the following years. One of the detectives, Duke, would reappear in a later SNK fighting title, The King of Fighters 2000. The initial prototype version of the game had some differences from the final release, including altered character graphics and a lack of character portraits on the selection screen. The game's music was composed by Yamapy-1, with art contributed by several designers.
