Bubble Memories: The Story Of Bubble Bobble III (Ver 2.4O 1996/02/15)
Taito Corporation Japan • 1995

Bubble Memories: The Story of Bubble Bobble III returns to the classic platforming gameplay that defined the original arcade hit. As young Bubby and Bobby, players must ascend an eighty-floor tower, battling familiar enemies like Skel and Rascal while collecting seven colored potions needed to restore a shattered magical artifact. A new “Super Bubble” mechanic allows for trapping larger foes or multiple smaller ones at once, replacing previous games' multiple bubble ability and adding a fresh layer of strategy to the core bubble-blowing action. This 1995 arcade title serves as a prequel in the series, depicting Bub and Bob before their later adventures. The game features graphics reminiscent of Bubble Symphony, with distinct backdrops but retaining the familiar single-screen design. Players control one of the twin brothers using an eight-way joystick and two buttons for jumping and blowing bubbles, striving to clear each floor while navigating a variety of obstacles and enemies. Beyond the main quest, players can unlock secret rooms and hidden levels through specific button combinations at the title screen, adding replayability and challenge. The soundtrack is composed by Yasuko Yamada (Zuntata), accompanied by sound effects created by Ishikawa Babio (BABI – also Zuntata). Up to four players can join forces for cooperative gameplay in this installment of the enduring Bubble Bobble franchise.
