Break Thru (World)
Data East Corporation • 1986
Also known as: Kyoukou Toppa

Data East Corporation’s Break Thru launched in arcades in 1986 and offers a cooperative shooting experience for two players. As pilots maneuvering specialized vehicles, players navigate horizontally across a series of environments, battling enemy forces and obstacles to progress through each stage. The game is an export version of the earlier Japanese title, Kyohkoh-Toppa, and features straightforward controls focused on movement and targeted attacks. Players must work together to overcome waves of adversaries while clearing pathways forward. Ports of Break Thru were later released for home computers including the Commodore C64, Amstrad CPC, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum, as well as the Nintendo NES console. The game's simple premise and two-player functionality made it a popular addition to arcades during its initial release.
