Breakers Revenge
Visco • 1998

Visco’s Breaker's Revenge, released in 1998, is a two-player versus fighting game continuing the story from its predecessor, Breakers. Players select from a diverse cast of characters and engage in close-quarters combat using punches, kicks, and stronger versions of each. The gameplay emphasizes direct confrontation with a focus on technical execution to master each fighter’s unique moveset. This updated version introduces a new playable character, Saizo, alongside revised color palettes for the existing roster. Built on SNK's Neo-Geo MVS hardware, Breaker's Revenge utilizes a straightforward four-button control scheme—punch, kick, hard punch, and hard kick—for each player. A unique technical quirk exists with earlier versions of the game when using specific system ROM configurations; this can result in graphical and audio malfunctions that are typically resolved by allowing the game to cycle through its attract sequence. Hidden within the character selection is a secret unlock for the fighter Bai-Hu, adding an extra layer of discovery for players.
