Gameplay

Boxy Boy is a cooperative maze game for two players, released by Namco in 1990. Players control characters who navigate enclosed areas and manipulate blocks to solve puzzles. The objective involves strategically pushing boxes onto designated blue circles within each level – careful planning and teamwork are essential as space is often limited. The gameplay presents a series of increasingly complex challenges requiring precise movements and coordination between both players. Originally known as "Souko Ban Deluxe" in Japan, the game utilizes Namco System 1 hardware to deliver its unique puzzle experience. A soundtrack album featuring music composed by Ayako Saso was released in 1993 as part of a larger compilation. Developed by Thinking Rabbit, Ltd., Boxy Boy offers a simple control scheme using four-way joysticks and two buttons, allowing players to focus on the spatial reasoning needed to succeed. A version of this game was later ported to the NEC PC-Engine console.
