Bowl-O-Rama challenges players to test their skills in three distinct bowling variations for two players. The game utilizes a trackball and simple button controls as a ROM upgrade for existing "Capcom Bowling" arcade boards. Players can choose between “Regulation Bowling,” which follows standard American Bowling Congress rules, “Flash-O-Matic,” where strike scores are determined by a flashing value, or the unique “BlackJack” mode. In "Flash-O-Matic," a constantly moving score value dictates potential rewards for strikes and spares, leading to high point totals. The “BlackJack” variation introduces an element of strategy as players attempt to knock down 21 pins across multiple throws per frame; points are awarded based on proximity to that target, with bonuses available for hitting it exactly. This mode is designed to be even more engaging with several players participating simultaneously. Bowl-O-Rama offers a fresh take on the classic sport of bowling, blending familiar gameplay with inventive twists and challenging scoring systems. Designed by Andrew Pines, this 1991 release provides an accessible yet entertaining arcade experience for two competitors.
