Gameplay

Step into the DJ booth with beatmania IIDX 7th style, a rhythm action game from Konami's popular BEMANI series. Two players can compete as they attempt to perfectly match music by striking seven key buttons and scratching a turntable in time with on-screen prompts. Accurate timing builds a groove meter; failure to keep pace depletes it, leading to an abrupt end of the song. This installment introduced "Dan" mode, a challenging series of courses ranked by difficulty, becoming a popular way for players to test their skills and compare scores. A new modifier called 5-key was also implemented, allowing it to be used on any chart difficulty. Dedicated players can unlock an “Extra Stage” featuring exclusive tracks by achieving specific performance goals across the standard song list. Released in Japan in March 2002, beatmania IIDX 7th style continues the established gameplay of its predecessors while adding new layers of challenge and competitive play for music game enthusiasts. A limited-edition soundtrack was released shortly after to accompany the arcade release.
