Bloxeed (Japan) (FD1094 317-0139)
Sega / Elorg • 1989

In Bloxeed, players cooperate in a unique puzzle game where blocks steadily descend from the top of the screen. Using two buttons, players rotate and shift these falling shapes to create complete horizontal lines across the bottom playfield. Successfully clearing lines prevents the stack from reaching the top, signaling game over. Originally released on Sega’s System C-2 hardware, this version utilizes the more advanced Sega System 18 platform exclusive to Japan. This enhanced edition introduces a new counter-clockwise rotation button for added control and offers visual improvements, including special effects displayed during the title screen sequence. Developers also addressed minor issues present in earlier versions, such as a background anomaly noticed on level two. Two players can participate simultaneously, adding a collaborative element to the increasingly frantic gameplay. Bloxeed debuted in Japan in 1989 and represents an engaging blend of puzzle mechanics and cooperative play within Sega's arcade offerings.
