Gameplay

Block Gal is a two-player ball and paddle game released in 1987 by Sega, developed with contributions from Vic Tokai. Players control paddles to deflect a bouncing ball and break formations of blocks arranged on the screen. The gameplay mirrors classic Breakout titles, but incorporates a dual-player element for competitive interaction; players can strategically redirect the ball towards their opponent’s paddle to increase difficulty. The game runs on Sega's System 1 hardware and features simple controls – a dial for paddle movement and a single button. Dynamic Ran and Gofukusen handled programming duties, while Shoochi Gun composed the music. Sary Chan Papa and Abunai Kun!! were listed as designers alongside producer Yakuza Sebiro. First released in Japan during March of 1987, Block Gal offers a straightforward yet engaging experience for fans of the ball and paddle genre.
