Block Block (World 911219 Joystick)
Capcom • 1991

Capcom's Block Block, released in 1991, is a two-player ball and paddle arcade game reminiscent of classics like Breakout. Players control paddles to rebound a blue ball against a wall of vibrantly colored bricks. The objective is to clear the entire playfield by strategically directing the ball to break all the blocks, with cooperative gameplay possible as both players work together toward this goal. The vertical screen displays a resolution of 240x384 pixels and offers a palette of over two thousand colors, creating a visually engaging experience. A brief storyline appears before the title screen in the original Japanese version, adding a small narrative element to the start of gameplay. Block Block utilizes a Zilog Z80 processor for its core operations and features sound chips delivering both digital effects and music. Bootleg versions produced by Koa also appeared around the time of the game’s initial release in Japan. The game has since been included in several Capcom Classics collections on various consoles and handheld devices.
