Gameplay

Black Tiger is a fast-paced, two-player platform fighter released by Capcom in 1987 for North American arcades. Players control martial arts warriors who battle through scrolling environments, leaping over obstacles and engaging enemies with punches, kicks, and special projectile attacks. The game shares similarities with the original Japanese release, Black Dragon, but offers a more accessible experience with reduced difficulty – featuring fewer hazards, easier-to-defeat foes, and simplified boss encounters. Gameplay involves progressing through levels while confronting increasingly challenging opponents. Players collect power-ups to enhance their abilities and score points by defeating enemies and bosses. The scoring system differs from the original Black Dragon, particularly for boss battles, with adjusted point values awarded for each vanquished foe. While originally an arcade exclusive, Black Tiger has since been included in various compilation releases across multiple platforms including Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console Arcade, Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, and others. A bootleg version of the game was also released under the same name by Dragon.
