Bombjack Twin is a 1993 platform and run-jump arcade game from NMK, serving as a direct sequel to the classic 1984 original. Players control Bomb Jack as he navigates levels collecting bombs while avoiding enemies; the gameplay retains the core mechanic of gathering unlit fuses for bonus points. This installment introduces simultaneous two-player action, allowing for cooperative or competitive play. Levels are now organized into rounds featuring three distinct screen layouts sharing a common background and culminating in bonus screens where players must quickly collect all bombs to earn extra points. The game’s structure diverges from the original with its round-based progression and new bonus stages. Each round takes place within a different global location, displayed on a map before play begins, including locales like Germany, Japan, and Hong Kong. Power-ups return, temporarily freezing enemies to allow for easier destruction. Bombjack Twin utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor and two OKI6295 sound chips and offers an 8-way joystick control scheme. A hidden message and test mode can be accessed by performing a specific button sequence at the game’s start.
