Battle Rangers (World)
Data East Corporation • 1988
Also known as: Bloody Wolf, Narazumono Sentoubutai Bloody Wolf, M.I.A. - Missing in Action

Battle Rangers is a cooperative shooter released by Data East Corporation in 1988. Designed and originally published in Japan, this two-player arcade game combines elements of walking simulators and top-down shooting action. Players control rangers tasked with navigating perilous environments while battling enemies using ranged weaponry. The gameplay involves movement across varied terrains to locate and engage hostile forces. Although the title screen displays a 1988 copyright, Battle Rangers was first made available in public arcades during February of 1989. A version of this game was later released on the Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console service in both Europe and Australia, utilizing the TurboGrafx platform. The game is known under a different title in its original Japanese release – “Narazumo Sentou Butai - Bloody Wolf” – and offers players a glimpse into that initial version for further understanding of its origins.
