Bandit (US prototype)
Data East USA / Incredible Technologies • 1989

Bandit is a two-player driving game released in 1989 by Data East USA and Incredible Technologies. Players take on the role of drivers attempting to journey across the lower 48 states of the United States, beginning in Los Angeles and aiming for New York City. The gameplay involves navigating roads while evading police pursuit throughout this extensive cross-country route. The game features a distinctive ending sequence triggered by time expiration; after the timer runs out, a law enforcement blockade appears followed by a computer-generated image depicting an electric chair execution accompanied by the message "Crime doesn't pay." Players control an amaranth Porsche 911 [964] during their escape. Originally intended for release in April of 1989, Bandit ultimately remained unreleased and incomplete.
