Gameplay

In Baluba-louk no Densetsu, two players cooperate to navigate a vertical platforming environment in search of hidden treasure chests. As explorers, they must carefully jump and maneuver through levels while avoiding various monsters that populate the landscape. Programmed by Tsukasa Masuko and released in Japan by Able Corp Ltd. in 1986, this game offers a straightforward run-and-jump experience controlled with an eight-way joystick and a single button. The title translates to "Legend of Baluba-louk," referencing a discovery made the year before its release. The game’s visuals are presented on a 224 x 256 pixel screen, utilizing a palette of 514 colors. Two Zilog Z80 processors handle the game's logic and sound, alongside custom audio chips for unique sound effects. Baluba-louk no Densetsu was later adapted into a Nintendo Famicom title in Japan, known as “Aigiina no Yogen - From the Legend of Baluba-louk.”
