Gameplay

Four players simultaneously compete in Vs. Balloon Fight, a platform and run-jump arcade game released by Nintendo in 1984. Each player controls an aviator tasked with traversing a series of floating islands while avoiding hazards and attacking opponents. Movement is managed using an eight-way joystick, allowing for precise navigation across the precarious terrain. The core gameplay involves bouncing between these islands to reach higher ground and strategically popping other players’ balloons with projectiles launched from your character. Successfully bursting another player's balloon sends them plummeting downwards, temporarily removing them from the round. The last aviator remaining with intact balloons is declared the winner of that stage; play continues across multiple stages. Vs. Balloon Fight utilizes two N2A03 processors for its gameplay and audio, alongside two DAC chips to generate sound effects. A home console version later appeared on the Nintendo Famicom in 1985 under the title Balloon Fight [Model HVC-BF].
