Gameplay

Piloting a space tank in Centuri’s 1983 shooter Aztarac, your mission is to defend isolated space outposts from waves of enemy ships. Unique control allows independent movement and turret rotation, letting you maneuver the tank while aiming its laser weaponry. A long-range scanner reveals approaching threats before they reach the vulnerable outposts, enabling proactive defense against both slow formations and nimble solo attackers. The game’s distinctive cabinet features a round plastic bezel around the monitor, creating a visual warp effect that enhances the sense of space. Gameplay rewards strategic positioning and skillful use of the scanner to prioritize targets and conserve resources; failure to protect the outposts results in their destruction and ultimately ends the game. Designed and programmed by Tim Stryker, Aztarac represents Centuri’s second and final vector-based arcade title.
