Gameplay

In Arkanoid - Revenge of DOH, players control the Vaus paddle and must bounce an energy ball to destroy bricks arranged in complex patterns across the screen. This 1987 sequel builds upon the original Arkanoid formula with the introduction of "Warp Gates," which alter the level progression based on player choices—selecting a gate leads to different versions of upcoming stages. New brick types appear, including notched silver blocks that regenerate after being broken, and moving bricks adding another layer of challenge. Beyond standard brick-breaking action, players encounter power-ups like lasers, ball-catching abilities, and size-altering effects, alongside a mini-boss battle against a giant brain to prepare for the final confrontation with DOH. Two players can team up to tackle the 34 stages featured in this arcade classic, navigating varied level designs and strategic choices through the Warp Gate system. The game's diverse power-ups, including options for splitting the ball or creating an illusionary paddle shadow, provide unique approaches to clearing each stage. Scores are earned by destroying bricks and eliminating alien enemies that occasionally appear, striving for a high score on the leaderboard.
