Gameplay

Take to the skies in Arbalester, a cooperative vertical shooter released in 1989 from Jordan I.S./Seta. Two players pilot craft armed with powerful crossbows – hence the title – battling through waves of enemies as they scroll upwards on screen. Maneuvering with an eight-way joystick, players must navigate hazards and strategically fire their projectiles to defeat approaching threats and progress deeper into the game's levels. The game’s design utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor for its gameplay and an X1-010 sound chip for audio. Arbalester was initially released in May of 1989 and subsequently licensed to Romstar and Taito for distribution in the United States. It offers a challenging experience that rewards teamwork, requiring players to coordinate their attacks while dodging enemy fire. Developed with programming by K. Watanabe and Y. Yamaguchi, and graphic design contributions from K. Nakabayashi and K. Yamada, Arbalester provides a focused, action-packed arcade experience for up to two players.
