Spot is a two-player tabletop game released in 1990 by Arcadia Systems, running on their Super Select arcade board hardware. Players control Spot, who was previously used as a mascot for the 7-Up brand during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, players engage in what appears to be a puzzle or matching game displayed on the screen. The game’s technical specifications include a Motorola 68000 central processing unit and custom sound chips. It is considered a rare arcade title; it's uncertain whether it ever received widespread commercial distribution. Versions of Spot were later released for home consoles including the Nintendo NES and Game Boy, as well as for personal computers such as PC (MS-DOS), Atari ST, and Amiga. Spot’s unique history extends beyond the arcade, demonstrating an unusual pathway for a game tied to a beverage advertising campaign, with ports appearing relatively quickly on various platforms shortly after its release.
