Blastaball (Arcadia, V 2.1)
Arcadia Systems • 1988

Blastaball is a two-player sports game released in 1988 by Arcadia Systems. Players control paddles at the bottom of the screen and must volley a large, bouncing ball towards their opponent’s goal area. Gameplay involves strategic positioning and timing to deflect the ball and score points, much like a combination of table tennis and field hockey. The arcade cabinet features bright, colorful graphics depicting stylized action on the playing field. The game is built around the Arcadia Super Select board, a platform used for several titles released by the company. Blastaball's simple mechanics are easy to pick up but offer surprising depth as players attempt to master angles and anticipate their opponent’s moves. It was first available in the United States during March of 1988, providing another option for competitive arcade play.
