Aliens (World set 1)
Konami • 1990

Step into the claustrophobic darkness of LV426 in Konami’s Aliens, a frantic run 'n' gun platformer for two players. As either Ripley or Hicks, you navigate through increasingly perilous environments overrun by Xenomorphs and other terrifying creatures from the classic film franchise. Armed initially with a pulse rifle, players must scavenge for powerful upgrades like flamethrowers and grenade launchers to survive encounters with hordes of aliens, mutated humans, and ultimately, the Alien Queen herself. Gameplay alternates between tense side-scrolling action and thrilling vehicle sequences where you ride atop an APC while blasting enemies. The Japanese version offers a significantly different experience, omitting many of the iconic scenes and elements found in other regional releases like the US version’s “Winners Don't Use Drugs” screen. Throughout your mission, expect to discover new enemy types and enjoy a more frequent drop rate for special weapons and 1-up opportunities. Aliens delivers intense cooperative gameplay with detailed graphics and sound design that faithfully recreates the atmosphere of Ridley Scott’s film while adding unique elements exclusive to the arcade experience.
