Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars (set 2, unprotected)
Sega • 1986

Team up with Stella in Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars, a vibrant run-and-jump adventure for two players. As Alex Kidd, you’ll traverse diverse and imaginative worlds – from Toy World to Monster World – on a quest to locate the twelve Zodiac signs. Along the way, your mission involves overcoming enemies and collecting six "miracle balls" cleverly hidden within unusual objects like golden eggs and Christmas presents. Gameplay centers around navigating scrolling environments using an 8-way joystick, with each player controlling their own character in cooperative fashion. The game’s unique platforming is affected by the version of hardware it runs on; one variation causes platforms to move upward, while another sends them downward. Familiar faces from Sega's earlier games may also appear as containers for these crucial collectibles. Released in Japan in December 1986, Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars marked an early appearance for Sega’s first mascot character and provided a foundation for subsequent adventures on other platforms. Hiroshi Kawaguchi composed the memorable soundtrack for this arcade title.
