Pilots representing the Allied League of Cosmic Nations take to the skies in Alcon, a vertical scrolling shooter released by Toaplan and published in North America by Taito America Corp. in December 1986. Two players can cooperate as they navigate their spacecraft through increasingly challenging levels filled with enemy formations and obstacles. The gameplay centers around maneuvering to avoid projectiles while returning fire on various alien targets, progressing deeper into hostile territory. Developed originally in Japan, Alcon challenges players with fast-paced action requiring precision control and strategic targeting. As the game advances, new types of enemies appear, demanding adaptability and skillful use of available weaponry. The high score record currently stands at 838,050 points, achieved on April 25, 1987. Ports of Alcon were later released for home computers including the Atari ST and Commodore 64.
