1941: Counter Attack (World 900227)
Capcom • 1990

Capcom’s 1941: Counter Attack, released in arcades outside Japan in 1990, continues the frantic action established by its predecessor. Players take control of Allied fighter planes battling against a massive Axis war machine across multiple stages. As a vertical scrolling shooter, gameplay involves maneuvering your aircraft to dodge enemy fire and destroy waves of incoming planes, tanks, ships, and powerful bosses. Cooperative play allows for two players to join the fight, working together to overcome increasingly difficult challenges. This installment builds upon the original’s formula with updated graphics and enhanced enemy patterns on Capcom's CP System hardware. A distinctive feature of the export versions includes a modified high score table display, showing "a02" instead of “j01” at a specific position. The game maintains its straightforward premise: survive relentless assaults while racking up points against the opposition. 1941: Counter Attack has since been ported to various platforms including Xbox, PlayStation 2, PSP, and iPhone, allowing players to experience this fast-paced aerial combat on different devices. Two distinct versions of the arcade game exist, identified as USA 900227 and ETC 900227.
